International Office

International Office establishes policy regarding activities for international exchange, and oversees the planning and implementation of international exchange programs. The Office also serves as the point of contact for negotiations with overseas partner organizations through its inter-university agreements.

Principal Activities

1.Dispatching students under inter-university exchange agreements

The Office provides information on partner universities, advises students, screens students, and conducts preparatory programs in conjunction with its studying abroad programs.

2.Accepting students from abroad under inter-university exchange agreements

To accommodate students wishing to study at Rikkyo University, the Office provides information to Rikkyo's partner universities, coordinates special academic programs, provides the students with advisors and tutors, arranges their accommodation, and offers them financial assistance to support their everyday lives while in Japan.

3.Support for international students

The Office offers consultation about status of residence, applies on behalf of students to obtain permission to engage in activities other than those permitted by their status of residence, provides Organization Guarantee Program services to students moving into housing, offers a tutor system for students writing theses in a language other than their native language, and advises students on everyday life in Japan.

4.Scholarships

The Office invites applications from international students and selects the recipients of scholarships.

5.International exchange events

The Office plans international exchange events for international students and collaborates with alumni groups that sponsor events for international students.

6.Support for academic exchange

The Office invites applications from visiting researchers from abroad and provides opportunities for Rikkyo faculty members to conduct overseas research activities.
