OBJECTIVE.

1. Number of Positions
One, Specially Appointed Associate Professor E (English), Professor or Associate Professor

2. Conditions
Full-time. One-year contract renewable four times (up to five years in total).

3. Starting Date
April 1, 2026

4. Research Field
English Language Education and/or any related field that can contribute to English Language Education

5. Job Details
1) Teaching university-wide curriculum English language courses (in principle, 10 classes a year).
2) Development of the university-wide language education curriculum (mainly CLIL courses).
3) Management of English Language Program at the Center for the University-wide Curriculum.
4) Responsible for work related to the university’s entrance exam.
5) Responsible for work assigned by the Dean of FLER.

6. Qualifications
1) A PhD in Applied Linguistics or a closely related field at the time of application.
2) Those who have extensive knowledge of designing English education curricula based on CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) and have CLIL teaching experience.
3) Those who are willing to work on designing English language education curricula.
4) Those who have sufficient skills for stable curriculum management.
5) Those who have the academic expertise and experience necessary to conduct peer reviews for academic journals in their field of specialization.
6) Those who have played a central role in English education programs or CLIL curricula involving multiple instructors, and who can actively contribute to educational improvement and faculty support.
7) Those who have the ability to teach in English, and sufficiently high Japanese language proficiency to perform a variety of administrative duties.
8) Those who have full-time teaching experience (including limited-contract work) at the university level.

Teaching: Ikebukuro Campus & Niiza Campus

8. Remuneration and Benefits
Based on the rules of Rikkyo University.
For reference (AY2024 results): First year salary 10 million yen (the amount is before various deductions. Annual salary system. No bonus or retirement allowance), personal research fund 310,000 yen per year.

  • Complete it either in Japanese or English.
2) ID photo (either JPEG, PNG, GIF format)
3) Three research papers related to English language education (PDF format)
  • Must include at least one paper written in English.
4) A syllabus for a one-semester English course satisfying the following conditions (PDF format):
  • Target students: Those whose level is CEFR B1
  • Course contents: Download the Global Studies Course List and select one CLIL course from the list
  • Class size: approximately 20 students
  • Lesson time & number of lessons: Rikkyo University lessons are 100 minutes, and meet once a week for 14 weeks per semester
  • A4 size, 1 page, written in English
5) Teaching plan of the course based on the 4) syllabus (PDF format)
  • Select a lesson from other than the first or the last
  • A4 size, up to 3 pages, written in English
6) Certificate of your highest degree (PDF format)

10. Application Process

[Process of selection and method of result notification]
(1) Primary selection via screening of documents
  • Those who have passed the document screening will be notified via email by Monday, August 4, 2025.

(2) Secondary selection via presentation (30-40 minutes of model lesson and interview in English)
  • Interviews and model lessons are scheduled to be held on or after Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at the Ikebukuro Campus.
  • Transportation expenses for the interview will not be reimbursed.
