The AFC certifies medical centers and clinics that excel in promoting a model tailored to each soccer player, focusing on injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance optimization measures. This program ensures that AFC member associations and players receive excellent evidence-based medical care. Institutions that meet these standards are certified as an AFC Medical Centre.
Rikkyo University Medical & Conditioning Center engages in research, human resource development, and education. Through collaboration with the JFA Clinic and JFA Medical Center's orthopedic clinic, it aims to fully realize its potential as an AFC Medical Centre/Clinic of Excellence. This is expected to enhance exchanges in the field of medical science in Asia. As AFC-certified facilities, these three institutions are also poised to disseminate information on Japan's soccer-related medical advances as an Asian leader in this domain to a global audience.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of JFA President Tsuneyasu Miyamoto, Michiko Doi (a medical doctor and specially appointed professor at Rikkyo University), AFC Medical Committee Chairman Dato’ Dr. Gurcharan Singh, along with Rikkyo University Professors Haruyasu Kato and Hideo Numazawa. Commemorative shields were presented by AFC General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John.

We are truly grateful for this exceptional opportunity. Rikkyo University's selection as AFC's Medical Centre/Clinic of Excellence brings me great joy. The College of Sport and Wellness has been recognized as an institution dedicated to nurturing athletic trainers. Our student trainers, together with outstanding instructors and doctors, provide daily support to athletes. We hope that the AFC certification will inspire AFC medical staff to visit Rikkyo University for training.
Finally, we are dedicated to further developing Asian soccer through partnerships with the JFA Clinic and JFA Medical Center.
