Rikkyo University Medical & Conditioning Center certified as an Asian Football Confederation Medical Centre

OBJECTIVE.
Rikkyo University Medical & Conditioning Center, an educational and research organization affiliated with the College of Sport and Wellness, jointly with the Japan Football Association (JFA) clinic and JFA Medical Center's orthopedic clinic, has been certified as an "AFC (Asian Football Confederation) Medical Centre/Clinic of Excellence." The certification ceremony took place on May 7, 2024, at the Prince Takamado Memorial JFA YUME Field in Chiba Prefecture.

Rikkyo University Medical & Conditioning Center engages in research, human resource development, and education. Through collaboration with the JFA Clinic and JFA Medical Center's orthopedic clinic, it aims to fully realize its potential as an AFC Medical Centre/Clinic of Excellence. This is expected to enhance exchanges in the field of medical science in Asia. As AFC-certified facilities, these three institutions are also poised to disseminate information on Japan's soccer-related medical advances as an Asian leader in this domain to a global audience.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of JFA President Tsuneyasu Miyamoto, Michiko Doi (a medical doctor and specially appointed professor at Rikkyo University), AFC Medical Committee Chairman Dato’ Dr. Gurcharan Singh, along with Rikkyo University Professors Haruyasu Kato and Hideo Numazawa. Commemorative shields were presented by AFC General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John.

This institution offers medical and conditioning support provided by top medical staff from the College of Sport and Wellness to students affiliated with the university's Athletic Association. Its aim is to enhance the quality of the medical and conditioning support system within the college and the Athletic Association by sharing detailed information about the system with interested students seeking high-level medical support.
