OBJECTIVE.

Rikkyo University's GLAP was founded in 2017 to nurture students who will take leading positions in the global society of the 21st century. The program offers a Liberal Arts-based undergraduate education. Students select one area of specialization in their third year: “Humanities", “Citizenship" or “Business" to deepen their academic studies. We are pleased to announce a position of Professor or Associate Professor who will be responsible for education in the field of "Citizenship".

4. Job description
1) Teach courses in GLAP: Tutorial, courses related to Liberal Arts education, and courses relevant to the field of Citizenship (Political Sociology, Global Sociology, Global City, etc.) . Also, some additional courses in the College of Sociology.
2) Mentor GLAP students majoring in the fields of Citizenship
3) Participate in the University’s entrance exam
4) Complete other duties specially requested by the GLAP Program Director

5. Qualifications
1) Ph.D. in a relevant field, or an equivalent
2) Degree (bachelor, master or doctorate) earned from a university outside of Japan that offers education in English
3) Teaching experience at the university level
4) High level of discernment in Liberal Arts education at the university level and the will to enthusiastically engage in education and activities of GLAP
5) Ability to teach courses in English and perform daily duties in Japanese

6. Work location
Ikebukuro Campus, Rikkyo University, Tokyo

7. Compensation
Based on Rikkyo University’s regulations.
Salary: 6,000,000 Yen (Annual amount before deductions)
Research expenses: 310,000 Yen (Annual amount)
Health insurance, employees’ pension insurance, workman’s accident compensation insurance, and unemployment insurance are offered.
Term of Employment: One-year contract (Renewable annually for up to five years)

9. Documents to be submitted
1) Resume/Curriculum Vitae with research achievement list. (in Japanese or English)
2) Copies of up to 3 major research publications related to Citizenship (in Japanese or English)
3) A draft Syllabus for the course “Political Sociology” (in English: 4 credits course. 28 classes <Twice a week for 14 weeks>)
4) Name, affiliation, position, contact information (telephone number, E-mail address, etc.) of a referee
5) Facial photo data (jpeg format)
※ For 1), please download and use the Rikkyo University curriculum vitae form attached below.
※For 3), There is no specific format for the syllabus. You can use your style. The course targets undergraduate first-year and second-year students Note that the class length at Rikkyo University is 100 minutes.

11. Selection process
Document review, followed by interviews for short-listed candidates
※ Short-listed candidates will receive an email to schedule a time for an interview on Friday, October 11. The interviews will be conducted in late October 2024.
