OBJECTIVE.

The College of Intercultural Communication at Rikkyo University seeks applications for a non-tenure-track Assistant Professor position.

1.Position Title: Non-tenured Assistant Professor (Level B). Full-time. One-year contract renewable four times (up to five years total).

2.Starting Date: April 1, 2023

3.Area of Specialization: Translation and Interpreting Studies

4.Classes: Academic Skills (in Japanese or English), Overview of Language and Communication Studies, Introduction to Translation and Interpreting Studies, Translation and Interpreting Practicum, other classes in Translation and Interpreting Studies and related subjects

5.Other responsibilities include education-related matters, research, entrance exam duties, departmental management, and others as specified by the faculty dean and department chair.

6.Qualifications:
(1)Master’s degree or PhD in Translation and Interpreting Studies or a related field (PhD preferred);
(2)Practical experience in the field of translation or interpreting;
(3)Ability to teach courses in Japanese and English.

10.Selection Procedure:
Applicants who pass the document screening process will be contacted by e-mail by September 30, 2022 for an interview. The interview will take place on October 15, 2022. The interview will be conducted in Japanese and English.

(1)The interview will be conducted either online or in person.
(2)Applicants who are currently overseas are welcome to apply. However, the selected candidate will be expected to have relocated to Japan no later than April 1, 2023.
