College of Intercultural Communication Tenured Position Announcement Position Information / Application Procedures

1.Position Title: Professor/Associate Professor (Tenured) – One position

2.Starting Date: September 1, 2021

3.Discipline Area: Cultural Anthropology

4.Coursework: College of Intercultural Communication courses and graduate school courses (e.g., Introduction to Cultural Anthropology, Fieldwork, Seminar in Anthropology, Academic Skills, Advanced Seminar, Tutorial Session, Master’s Thesis Supervision), University-wide Liberal Arts courses
[Note: Some courses must be taught in Japanese.]

5.Position Details: Responsibilities include: teaching and education-related matters, research-related matters, entrance examination-related work, undergraduate and graduate school administrative support work, and other duties as prescribed by the Faculty Dean and/or Department Chair.

6.Qualifications:
① Ph.D. or equivalent research achievement.
② Expertise in anthropology related to art, film and other visual media, humanity, and culture.
③ Experience teaching at university.
④ Ability to teach classes and supervise bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral theses in both Japanese and English.
⑤ Ability to offer instruction in the graduate program.
⑥ Ability to contribute to the University-wide Liberal Arts curriculum (general subjects).
⑦ Ability to use one’s expertise to develop courses for the Department’s Global Studies curriculum pertaining to art, visual media, humanity, and culture.

7.Conditions:
Conditions of employment are determined by the University’s regulations (mandatory retirement at 65).

9.Application Submission Procedures:
① Submit a CV using the specified Rikkyo University format (CV guidelines and CV template can be downloaded from the links below). CV formats other than the Rikkyo University format will not be accepted.

② Fill out the published research section of the CV as indicated in the CV guidelines.
③ Provide 3 published articles/works of research (must be in Japanese or English).
④ Provide the names of two references, including affiliations/titles, and contact information (phone numbers and e-mail addresses) on a separate sheet of paper.

(1) All submitted material should be in either English or Japanese. The CV guidelines, a CV sample, and the CV template are downloadable from the links below on the site.

10.Selection Procedure: Applicants who pass the document screening will be contacted via e-mail by March 17 (Wed.), 2021. Interviews and simulated classes will be held between March 22 (Mon.) and March 31 (Wed.), 2021.
