Ikebukuro Library

Main LibraryIkebukuro Library opened in Fall 2012. Its aboveground floors opened in September, and basement floors will open in November. Ikebukuro Library, an integrated library with B2F-3F of the Lloyd Hall (#18 bldg.) and B1F-1F of former Social Sciences Library(#12 bldg.), has its capacity as 2 million volume collection size and 1520 seats. In order to promote learning, education, and research at the Rikkyo University, the Library has consolidated the collections on the Ikebukuro Campus from Main Library, Humanities Library, Social Sciences Library, Natural Sciences Library, Reading Room of the Certification Programs, and Center for Interdisciplinary Research Institutes.
Retaining the functions as undergraduate library and research library, Ikebukuro Library will strongly support learning, education, and research by improving convenience and matching users' various needs.

Main Library (close on Nov. 6)

Main LibraryThe Main Library includes the Mather Library, built in 1918 when Rikkyo University moved to Ikebukuro from Tsukiji, the New Building that lies adjacent to it, and the Media Library, located on the second floor of Building No. 7. The Main Library houses a collection of nearly 350,000 volumes, most of which are Japanese books, journals, and periodicals.

Humanities Library (close on Oct. 30)

Humanities LibraryThe Humanities Library is located on the first and fifth floors of Building No. 6, and the adjoining West Wing. This research library stores documents related to the College of Arts and Graduate School of Arts, as well as titles in German and French. It contains approximately 210,000 books and 20,000 volumes of bound journals. This library currently subscribes to 1,500 Japanese and international magazines and journals.
