Graduate School of Contemporary Psychology
For over a half century, the Graduate Program in Psychology existed in the Graduate School of Arts. In April 2006 it reorganized into the Graduate School of Contemporary Psychology and relocated to Niiza Campus. The Graduate School of Contemporary Psychology offers two graduate degree programs: the Graduate Program in Psychology, which conducts education and research in the fields of basic psychology with emphasis on perception and cognition, and applied psychology with emphasis on social and industrial psychology as well the Graduate Program in Clinical Psychology, which conducts research in clinical psychology and nurtures specialized professionals in fields such as clinical psychology. This program is recognized as a Category 1 Graduate School certified by the Japanese Certification Board for Clinical Psychologists. Through their intimate and organic liaison, the two programs present new concepts in human studies and comprehensive psychology. From April 2008 the department has launched a Graduate Degree Program in Image and Body Expression, which will investigate the significance of the workings of machine imaging and corporeality.

Field of Study: Body Expression and Cinematic Arts
(from April 2008)
- The Graduate Degree Program in Body Expression and Cinematic Arts is a novel concept unlike that found at any other graduate school: it strives to create a new anthropology by linking expression with the human body, and the human body with expression.
- The Program offers a curriculum where students study the theory and practice of expression in a systematic manner by progressing from a basic to an expert level.
- The Program is divided into three sections: Basic Research (Theoretical Studies), Work Expression Studies (Practical Studies), and Production Studies (Art Production Management Studies). Each section aims to refine students’ knowledge and techniques.
- A lively intellectual atmosphere encourages students to collaborate with professionals in artistic and media practices, as well as with faculty members, and to actively pursue research on contemporary thought by fostering a learning community.
