College of Sociology has invited Professor Koen van Eijck as an incoming guest researcher from the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication, with which Rikkyo University now has an inter-university agreement, and intends to promote academic exchanges.
In commemoration of this event, we will hold a public seminar to discuss how cultural activities can be explained by aesthetic dispositions and institutional contextulization on February 23.

Profile | Associate Professor at the Erasmus School of History, Culture and Communication. His specializations are: Sociological studies on cultural taste and participation, including trends and social inequality in culture consumption, art perception, the aesthetic experience, cultural boundaries, cultural omnivorism, cultural re-production and the relation between cultural lifestyles and social values. He is a sociological researcher on cultural taste and participations, and an advisor for the Ministry of Education, Art and Science of the Netherlands. |
