Associate Professor Shuichi Hasegawa is Awarded the 11th Japan Academy Medal

Shuichi Hasegawa, Associate Professor in the Department of Christian Studies has been awarded the 11th Japan Academy Medal for his research achievement in "Studies on the History of the Southern Levant in the First Millennium B.C. Based on Epigraphic and Archaeological Sources and Critical Analysis of Biblical Text".

This prize was newly instituted in 2004. Its purpose is to give formal recognition to outstanding young researchers, while encouraging them in their future work. Awardees are selected from among the annual recipients of the JSPS Prize administered by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. Prof. Hasegawa is the only awardee who belongs to a private university.

The award ceremony will be held on February 24th at The Japan Academy.
