Recent advances in observations have dramatically changed our picture of the Universe and enabled us to elucidate its birth and evolution based on very few laws of physics. This is the tremendous achievement of modern science. Jhingan will shell light on how our understanding of the Universe has evolved in the past few millenniums from the mythological ages to modern cosmology with beautiful and colourfull slides.

Sanjay Jhingan is a professor in Centre for Theoretical Physics, Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi. He is also an invited researcher of Rikkyo University. He studies gravitational collapse in general relativity, observational cosmology, gravitational wave theories and gravitational theories in higher-dimensional spacetimes.
