Project-Based Learning in RIKUZENTAKATA Program--Working with Social Enterprise to Support 311 Disaster Recovery Now Open for Application

12/20/2013

The Center for Global Human Resource and Development of Rikkyo University is now offering an opportunity for both Japanese and international students at Rikkyo to work closely with SAVE TAKATA, a non-profit social enterprise rooted in one of the 311 disaster-hit cities Rikuzentakata in the north-east region of the country.
The program will mainly consist of a field trip to the city of Rikuzentakata, lectures and workshops before, during and after the trip, and a formal presentation session all in English. Participants divided into teams will be given real problems and issues facing SAVE TAKATA or the city of Rikuzentakata and requested to come up with a final solution.
By joining this program, participants will not only be able to collect first-hand information and deepen understanding of the current situation of the disaster-struck areas, but also be actually helping recovery work by cooperating with related organizations and individuals. Furthermore, participants are expected to share what they learned about the disaster-stricken districts to more people home and abroad.
