Former Professor of the College of Science, Dr. Kunio Iwatsuki for "Persons of Cultural Merit"

Dr. Kunio Iwatsuki (former professor of the College of Science) was selected as one of the Persons of Cultural Merit in 2007.
It was announced on Saturday, Oct. 27, and the recognition ceremony was held on Monday, Nov. 5. On the basis of prominence of his/her contribution to promotion and development of Japanese culture, Persons of Cultural Merit are selected annually by the subcommittee for selection of Persons of Cultural Merit which is appointed by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology as part of the Council for Cultural Affairs. Dr. Iwatsuki (now the director of the Museum of Nature and Human Activities, Hyogo, and an emeritus at the University of Tokyo) majors in plant taxonomy, and taught at Rikkyo University College of Science until his retirement.
