Message from the Director of the International Office

It has long been customary for young people to travel to neighboring countries before entering professional world to learn about foreign cultures and ways of life. International studies are critically important to shaping young people’s values and global outlook. And yet, a variety of difficulties must be overcome to acquire this sort of cultural knowledge. Even wit h today’s advanced communication technologies, there are still things one cannot learn without physically visiting the country itself. The ability to achieve this kind of knowledge—the kind that transcends even what we can learn through our advanced technological world—is what gives such great significance to the study abroad experience. The International Office is committed to supporting students who have set out into the world in pursuit of further development, so that these students will be able to make the most of their time at Rikkyo University.
