Disaster and Accident Insurance for Student Education and Research by Japan
Educational Exchanges and Services (JEES)

Disaster and Accident Insurance for Student Education and Research is an accident compensation program that provides the needed payments to students who have encountered a disaster while engaged in educational or research activities. It was initiated in FY1976 for the purpose of contributing to the enhancement and development of the University’s educational and research activities. Rikkyo University bears the premium to subscribe to this Insurance.
Students are advised to refer to the Disaster and Accident Insurance for Student Education and Research Guidebook distributed when they entered the university, and to promptly carry out the procedures when an incident occurs.

(1) Insurance Benefits (12 Million Yen Course for Death Benefits)

4,000 yen per day will be added for in-patient treatment

*Rikkyo University does not accept injury or hazard liability contracts for commuting to and from school, etc

(2) When Accidents Occur

Students must contact the reception desk at the Division of Student Affairs (Ikebukuro) or the Niiza Campus Office, and also obtain the notification forms for and notify their insurance company within 30 days after an accident has occurred. (This can be done by a proxy)

Once the student has completed their course of treatment he/she must receive the insurance claims forms at the reception desk of the Division of Student Affairs (Ikebukuro) or the Niiza Campus Office (Niiza). The various documents are to be filled in and then submitted to the reception desk.

Insurance benefits are paid by the insurance company (deposited to a bank account in the student's name).
