Interested applicants need to apply through the Fall or Spring Round of the Entrance Exam for International Courses (GLAP). The applications cannot be submitted through the general entrance examination or the National Center Test for University Admissions.

The idea of studying liberal arts both in Japan and abroad is central to the Global Liberal Arts Program curriculum, so study abroad is considered an essential part of developing the capabilities expected of a student completing the program. The costs for study abroad consist of travel and living expenses. There are no additional tuition fees to be charged. You only need to pay academic fees to Rikkyo University and you will be exempted from paying tuition fees at the study abroad host institution.
Yes, it is possible, after consulting your Academic Advisror, but you are expected to give priority to Compulsory Subject and Elective Subjects offered as part of the Global Liberal Arts Program curriculum. Courses completed outside this curriculum can be counted as Free Elective Subjects toward your credits required to graduate, up to a maximum of 16 credits.
We have two scholarships for GLAP students and scholarships for study abroad.
◆Rikkyo University GLAP Scholarship (awarded prior to enrolment)
The scholarship, awarded prior to enrolment, is provided in the form of a grant for financial support purposes. Only students applying for admission in the Fall Round of the Entrance Exam for International Courses (GLAP) are eligible to apply. The scholarship is designed to be awarded to applicants who may be experiencing significant financial hardship. The selection of the recipients is based on a review of each applicant’s household income status.
The scholarship application must be submitted at the time of application for the Fall Round of the Entrance Exam for International Courses (GLAP).
○Annual scholarship amount：1.2 million yen per year
○Duration of payment：4 years in principle
(The annual review is conducted to determine the continuation of payment.)
○Number of recipients：Very limited
◆Rikkyo University Academic Merit Scholarship (GLAP) The scholarship (grant) is awarded to the students demonstrating excellent academic performance in order to encourage their academic endeavors. The annual grant of 200,000 yen is provided to two recipients who are selected from each class group, except first year students.
◆Rikkyo University Global Scholarship The scholarship (grant) is awarded to the students for study abroad. The grant of 200,000 yen or 400,000 yen is provided to recipients, based on a review of each applicant’s household income status.
Upon the completion of all the course requirements of the GLAP, students will be awarded a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. As for the fields of specialization for degrees conferred, the GLAP is considered as part of the Department of Letters at the College of Arts. It should be noted, however, that the GLAP is a degree program operated utilizing the resources of Rikkyo University as a whole, with a curriculum that is distinctively different from any other
pre-existing colleges or departments at Rikkyo.
No, you cannot earn a Teacher’s License.
It is possible to earn the qualifications of Curator, Librarian, and Social Education Supervisor.
After enrolling in another College / Department of Rikkyo University or entering another university, you cannot switch to the Global Liberal Arts Program.
